Women Veterans Recognition Day is not a separate Veterans Day for women. It honors the signing of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, which granted women the right to serve permanently in the regular armed forces.
Women have served in every era of American conflict, from the Revolutionary War to World War II and beyond. Their contributions included frontline service, medical care, intelligence, and critical support roles, paving the way for today's women who serve in every military specialty.
